Frequently asked questions

Common questions about operations engineering and working with Bridgr Labs.

What is operations engineering?
Operations engineering is the discipline of diagnosing operational friction, prioritising improvements by measurable value, and implementing changes that connect people, processes, and systems. It sits between management consulting (which diagnoses but rarely implements) and software development (which builds but rarely diagnoses).
Who does Bridgr Labs work with?
We work with UK service businesses that have recurring operational workflows and no dedicated automation team. The primary fit is roughly 10–50 employees. We also work with businesses of 5–200+ employees where the economics of a stuck workflow justify a paid assessment. The common factor is operational friction — not a single industry.
How is this different from hiring a developer or buying an automation tool?
Developers build what they are told to build. Automation tools solve known problems. Operations engineering identifies which problems are actually worth solving first, then implements the right solution — which might be automation, a simpler handoff, a tool reconfiguration, or a process redesign.
What does an engagement look like?
It starts with an operational brief where you describe the work that is not working well. We review fit and, if appropriate, run a structured diagnostic: mapping workflows, identifying friction, gathering evidence, and scoring opportunities. Then we implement the highest-value improvements and measure outcomes against a defined baseline.
How long does an assessment take?
A typical operational assessment takes two to four weeks depending on the number of workflows involved. Implementation timelines vary based on complexity, but most improvements are live within four to eight weeks of starting.
Do you only work with specific industries?
No. The operations engineering method applies across any business with recurring operational work that spans multiple tools or teams. We have worked across professional services, property, e-commerce, and B2B SaaS — the common factor is operational friction, not the industry.
What does it cost?
Engagements are scoped and priced based on the complexity of the operational area. We do not charge by the hour. You will receive a clear proposal with a fixed scope and price before any implementation work begins.
What happens if the improvement does not deliver?
Every implementation includes a defined success metric and a baseline measurement. If the outcome does not meet the agreed threshold, we review what happened, identify the gap, and adjust. We do not declare success until the numbers confirm it.
